Webinar Overview:

As CMS guidelines evolve and become more cumbersome each year, private insurance carriers soon follow suit. Physicians rely more and more on staff members to maintain and update their knowledge of coding guidelines and government rules for billing. With the success of RACS in recouping millions of dollars in moneys from hospitals, Medicare is extending its post-payment reviews to physician practices. It is therefore increasingly important that all coders and billing staff become as well-informed as possible in order to maintain compliance and avoid repayment and penalties.

Target Audience:

  • Anyone involved in coding, documentation or billing for physician, facility evaluation and management visits
  • Compliance Officers
  • Office Managers

Webinar Objectives:

  • To learn to determine the difference between New, Established and Consultation Codes and when it is appropriate to use each
  • To learn the documentation requirements for each type of E&M code and situations that permit the exclusion of certain portions
